We are hiring: merSETA Senior Project Coordinator

The role of the incumbent is to provide Project Management services to Programme Phetogo which forms part of the broader PSET CLOUD Programme to ensure execution of projects under Programme Phetogo and that all deliverables are met. The candidate will report to the Programme Phetogo Programme Manager and has no subordinates. This is a 12-month contract appointment (1 April 2023 – 31 March 2024)

Job Description:

  • Project Management: Monitors the progression projects at every stage and ensures that the objectives of a project are met.
  • Quality Assurance: Maintain a desired level of quality in a service or product, especially by means of attention to detail through every stage of the process of delivery or production.
  • Ensure that timelines are met: Manage team in such a way that deadlines are met. 
  • Stakeholder management: Ensure that stakeholders are identified and appropriately engaged.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diplomas: Information Systems, Business, Commerce and Management Studies or related field, Compulsory
  • Recognized Project Management qualification (e.g. PMP/PRINCE 2/SAFe/Agile certifications), Compulsory
  • Minimum of 3 years’ project management or coordination/administration experience, including project planning, monitoring, reporting and advocacy, Compulsory
  • Adequate understanding of the SETA’s and Post School Education and Training environment, Advantageous

Core Responsibilities:

  • Develop and/or monitor and track progress of respective workstream project plans in support of the overall Programme Phetogo implementation plan at the merSETA
  • Assist the Programme Manager to ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
  • Support workstream leads and other programme staff with operational matters as may be required
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs using appropriate verification techniques
  • Assist Programme Manager with day-to-day management of project resources in order to deliver Programme goals and objectives
  • Report and escalate projects risks and issues as needed
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
  • Coordinate project resources and third parties or vendors for successful execution of projects
  • Perform Programme administration and reporting activities under the guidance of the Programme Manager as follows:
    - Help to set up project and project related meetings
    - Handle minute-taking at meetings
    - Organize venues (where applicable)
    - Assist with planning
    - Keep the project calendar up to date
    - Offer suggestions to improve efficiencies
    - Maintain compliance regulations
  • Attend workshops, conferences and training as required to maintain proficiency
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
