JET Education Services seeks to appoint a Data Analyst in its Data and Statistics unit. The Data Analyst will provide support for statistical analysis of quantitative data from various projects which support an evidence-based approach to education policy and planning.
The position is based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Specific tasks will include:
• Design surveys that provide an environment in which to collect data
• Develop electronic question forms to collect data
• Quality control of data during collection to ensure correct collection
• Data processing and management (e.g. data capture, collation, cleaning, data quality assurance and verification using correct protocols)
• Data analysis using relevant software
• Assist in generating data reports (including tables and graphs) based on queries
The knowledge and skills required are as follows:
• Bachelor’s in statistics, economics, econometrics, mathematics, data science or social sciences (with a strong statistical component). An honours-level qualification would be an advantage. A diploma in Statistics with required experience might be considered.
• At least two years of experience in a relevant field
• Must have knowledge of Stata (1 year minimum of experience). Knowledge of R-Programming would be an advantage.
• Commitment to ethical standards in managing public, personal and confidential data
• Sound quantitative data analysis skills
• Minimum of one years’ experience with cleaning and analyzing data
• Use data to write standard or customised reports from findings
• Must have a South African ID or a valid work permit.
