We are hiring: AASA Programme Coordinator: Limpopo

Location: Limpopo, Mogalakwena

Anglo American South Africa (AASA) and Platinum in partnership with the Department of Basic Education are implementing the AASA Education Programme, an initiative of Anglo American’s sustainability strategy. This is a holistic approach to education from early childhood learning through to matric, the goal being to improve the educational outcomes of learners in communities local to the Platinum Operations around Mogalakwena and Amandelbult in Limpopo. Through a number of service providers, the programme works in primary and secondary schools as well as Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres.

As part of this programme, JET Education Services (JET), appointed by AASA, seeks to appoint a dynamic high level operational Programme Coordinator to join its established Project Management team. The appointed Programme Coordinator will assist with the programme implementation in two operations: Mogalakwena and Amandelbult, Limpopo, in collaboration with the JET Programme Manager and senior Programme staff.

The appointed Programme Coordinator will be offered a fixed term contract and will be required to have the following attributes.

Knowledge, experience and skills required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Community Development or related field
• Proven track record of coordinating and supporting large-scale complex interventions in the education and/or development sectors
• Minimum of five years’ experience in project coordination, including budget tracking and record keeping
• Highly motivated to make a difference in the education sector through the work we do
• High-level planning, leadership, organisational and interpersonal skills
• High-level communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to establish and maintain relationships with project partners, clients and stakeholders
• Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
• Fluency in Tswana, Sotho and Afrikaans will be an added advantage for the position
• Computer literacy (MS Office package)
• A valid and unendorsed driver’s licence.

Key Performance Areas
The Programme Coordinator is expected to ensure effective project implementation by:
• Managing the delivery of the programme by the Intervention Implementers at ECD sites and schools
• Arranging, preparing for and reporting into management meetings as required
• Monitoring and reporting progress against agreed programme deliverables
• Identifying any hindrances/blockages to programme implementation and recommending appropriate course(s) of action as required
• Engaging in relevant stakeholder engagement, including the local community, Department of Education and Department of Social Development, to ensure successful programme implementation
• Coordinating and monitoring the evaluation of project implementation by a team of data collectors
• Ensuring effective communication and flow of information at all levels
• Developing and maintaining relationships at all levels
• Budget tracking and record keeping

The Programme Coordinator must be resident in the area described, willing to travel and possess a code 08 driver’s licence.

This position will require the incumbent to work physically onsite and working from home will be limited.
