We are hiring: AASA PCILL  Anglo School Food Gardens Coordinator

Anglo American South Africa De Beers, Platinum and Thungela formally known as Coal SA  in partnership with the Department of Basic Education have launched the Anglo American South African Education Programme, a core part of Anglo American’s Sustainable Mining Plan. The goal of the Programme is to improve the educational outcomes of learners in communities local to De Beers, Platinum and Thungela formally known as Coal SA, Limpopo and eMalahleni.

The JET Food Garden Initiative will coordinate the establishment of school food and nutrition gardens in AASA Primary Schools as well as helping to establish household food gardens in the local communities. These school food and nutrition gardens are aimed at supplementing the school food nutrition programme and to be used as outside classroom for curriculum integration.

JET seeks to appoint 1 x AASA PCILL  Anglo Schools Food Garden Provincial Coordinator local to the following area: De Beers, Platinum and Thungela formally known as Coal SA who will manage, support and assist Facilitators to establish school food and nutrition gardens in all AASA Primary Schools as well as helping to establish household food gardens in the local communities.  This is going to be 10 days per month contract starting in July 2022 and ending on 30 June 2023.

Responsibilities will include the following:
Job Description of AASA PCILL Anglo School Food Gardens Provincial Coordinator:
o Manage the Facilitators for AASA Primary Schools in De Beers, Platinum and Thungela formally known as
        Coal SA
o Support and assist the Facilitators with the implementation of the school food garden initiative;
o Provide onsite and remote facilitator support;
o Track, monitor and report on delivery and establishment of school food and nutrition
        gardens;
o Work collaboratively with the JET PC’s and Facilitators;
o Develop and Maintain working relationship with all stakeholders (to enable co-operation, collaboration &
        efficient flow of communication);
o Direct over sight;
o Reporting;
o Guide and assist the Facilitators;
o Manage risks ;
o Visit the Business Units at least once a term.

Selection Criteria:
• B.Ed Degree  or equivalent qualification with at least 5 years’ experience with a proven track record’;
• Be able to build relationships and communicate effectively;
• Be competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point required for submitting reports;
• Be available to attend AASA Collaborative and LMC meetings;
• Be comfortable to report on progress to the AASA Anglo Scholl Food Gardens PM;
• Be able to work well with teachers, learners and gardeners,
• Be flexible to travel and stay over, as may be required,
• Be available on weekdays, during school hours and afternoons, as well as certain Saturdays and Holidays;
• Be passionate about gardening,
• Be flexible to travel and stay over, as may be required;
• Be open to introduce innovative methods to establish thriving school food and nutrition gardens;
• Be able to manage Facilitators for AASA Primary Schools in Kumba (1 Facilitator per Operation);
• Hold a valid driver’s license, own a functional car with comprehensive insurance

**The selected candidate will receive an annual salary of R 300 00 0p.a.(full time position) with a quarterly travel allowance.
