JET Research Officer, Nkhensani Baloyi completed the Total Sports Two Oceans ultra-marathon that took place on the 13th of April 2024 in a time of 5 hours, 35 minutes, and 42 seconds, marking a significant improvement from her first ultra-marathon in 2023, where she finished in 6 hours, 35 minutes, and 30 seconds.
Despite encountering challenges of almost quitting in the two mountains, Chappies and Constantia Nek, Nkhensani remained resilient, drawing strength from how running has changed her mental health and wellness over the past 3 years.
For her, running is not just a physical endeavour but also a powerful catalyst for personal growth.
With the upcoming training challenge for her 3rd Comrades Marathon scheduled for the 9th of June 2024, from Durban to Pietermaritzburg (Up Run), Nkhensani is eager to continue pushing her boundaries and embracing the journey ahead.
