This book is the culmination of six years of work on the National School Effectiveness Study, a longitudinal research project that collected and analysed relevant school and home background data from 300 primary schools selected from all provinces except Gauteng.
The National Education Collaboration Trust, a business /civil society initiative supported by the Department of Basic Education, was launched on 16 July 2013 at the Presidential Guesthouse, Pretoria.
Godwin Khosa has been appointed by the Minister of Basic Education to serve on the Ministerial Committee to investigate the current promotion requirements and other related matters that impact the standard of the National Senior Certificate.

Improving the standard of education through incentivising teachers
The Zenex Foundation and JET Education Services (JET) congratulate the 2012 Grade 12 class and the Department of Basic Education on achieving the highest Senior Certificate pass rate since 1994.
In comparison to the provincial pass rate of 62%, this achievement has ensured that yet again, Cofimvaba has secured the top position out of the twenty three Districts of the Eastern Cape – no mean feat.
