Safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage in Basic Education project in Namibia and Zimbabwe

About

Under the overall authority of the UNESCO Regional Director for Southern Africa and the direct supervision of the Head of the Culture Unit, the contractor shall develop two policy briefs for the "Safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage in Basic Education in Namibia and Zimbabwe" project and provide expertise and support through planning, facilitation, and participation at the high-level policy dialogue meetings to be held in Namibia and Zimbabwe in October and November 2024 respectively.

Objective

Our understanding of the core outcome of this project is to develop Policy Briefs on integrating living heritage in formal education in Namibia and Zimbabwe. To achieve this outcome the following must be undertaken: to conduct activities (specified in the detailed project workplan below) to support consultation, drafting and submitting for approval by UNESCO, a context specific policy brief for Namibia and a policy brief for Zimbabwe, providing recommendations, and actionable strategies for integrating living heritage in formal education in national education systems.
