Job requirements:
- BSc Honours in statistics, econometrics, mathematics or social sciences (with a strong statistical component)
- A masters-level qualification would be an advantage
- At least three years of experience in cleaning and analysing data
- Experience in sampling and weighting will be an added advantage
- Understanding of and knowledge to operate database systems
- Computer skills including competence in STATA and Microsoft Office (especially Excel), use of the internet and email
- Familiarity with database programmes such as Microsoft Access, MySQL or others
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must have a South African ID or a valid work permit.
Specific tasks will include:
- Conduct and manage processes such as data capture, cleaning, quality assurance, verification and analysis.
- Clean and analyse data
- Use data to write standard or customized reports from findings
Competencies:
- Must have extensive knowledge of Stata (3 years minimum experience). Experience in R will be an advantage
- Knowledge of other statistical packages
- Commitment to ethical standards in managing public, personal and confidential data
- Good command of oral and written English
- Sound quantitative data analysis skills
- Ability to communicate well with clients/users
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a statistician.
