We are hiring: WCED Test Supervisors
JET Education Services seeks to appoint Test Supervisors on a short-term contract basis to manage and oversee teams of Test Administrators in this year's Western Cape Education Department (WCED) Grade 3,6 and 9 Systemic Testing.
In total, eight (8) Test Supervisor positions have become vacant and need to be filled this year:
1. Knysna-based team
2. George-based team
3. Ceres-based team
4. Strand/ Gordon's Bay-based team
5-8 Cape Town Southern Suburbs-based teams
Requirements: As a Test Supervisor, you must:
· Have a Teaching Qualification
· Be a person of integrity, able to ensure the confidentiality and security of the testing process.
· Not have a Criminal Record, nor appear on either the National Register of Sexual Offences (NRSO), or the National Child Protection Register (NCPR).
· Preferably have occupied a leadership position in the South African education system.
· Communicate fluently in at least two of the official languages (Afrikaans, English, isiXhosa).
· Have your own transport and be willing to travel.
· Have a fully functioning cell phone that is WhatsApp-enabled.
· Be computer literate and have an active personal email address.
· Preferably have previously served as a TA in the project.
· Not recruit family members, as per JET policy.
· Be physically fit, mentally alert and in good health.
· Be no older than 70 years of age.
· Dress neatly and professionally.
· Be in possession of a South African identity document and a valid SARS tax number.
· Confirm that this will be your only employment during the testing period.
Responsibilities: As a Test Supervisor, you must:
1. Recruit a suitable team of Test Administrators (TAs), using the TA Recruitment Guideline.
2. Select your Senior Assistant Supervisor (SAS) in consultation with the Test Manager,.
3. Work cooperatively with your SAS on all tasks to ensure they are fully equipped to fulfil the
role of TS when the need arises.
4. With your SAS, prepare all new TAs for training and testing using the TA Induction Guideline.
5. Attend the TS/SAS training and all pre- and post-training meetings for the period of your
contract.
6. Attend and assist with the training of your TA team.
7. Ensure your team of appointed TAs thoroughly understands the protocols and procedures of
test administration.
8. Submit correctly completed documentation at the times specified by management.
9. Draw up, and submit, an electronic copy of the TA Allocation Schedule,
indicating the TAs on duty in the specific schools on each day of testing.
10. Strictly adhere to designated security protocols in relation to receiving, storing and handing
over any test materials to your TAs and the appointed courier.
11. With the SAS, ensure that a sample of test boxes is checked before testing.
12. Together with your SAS, visit your list of allocated schools and complete a School Visit Checklist for each school visited.
13. Contact each school telephonically two days prior to testing to ensure all the agreed-to
protocols are still in place.
14. Monitor and supervise TAs daily over the 10-day testing period.
15. Adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) protocols – you are the OHS
Compliance Officer for your team.
16. Report any irregularities immediately to the Testing Manager, and submit an Incident Report
electronically on the day, outlining the situation.
17. Debrief your TA team daily, after testing, on any challenges/concerns that may have arisen.
18. With the SAS and Assistant Supervisor on duty, ensure that all test boxes are checked after testing, before being collected by the courier.
19. Check and sign all TA Claim Forms and ensure all other prescribed paperwork is submitted timeously.
20. At the end of testing, attend a Review Meeting to reflect on the process to further improve the quality of service that we deliver.
