We are Hiring: TICZA Project Coordinator

Location: Gauteng
Contract duration: 2 years fixed term contract

JET Education Services seeks to appoint a Project Coordinator for the Teacher Internship Collaboration (TICZA) Project. The incumbent must be an emerging researcher in education, social sciences or related fields with particular interest in the initial teacher education (ITE) system of South Africa.

The role includes project administration, coordination of research activities, working groups and community of practice sessions, Steering Committee meetings, implementation meetings and any other formed project structure throughout the course of the project. The individual will be responsible for supporting the implementation of the project work plan, and supporting with meeting notes and minutes. Support with writing publications, the development of instruments and the analysis of data related to ITE will also be required. Travelling between provinces where the project is implemented in supporting project deliverables.


1. Project Coordination

● Contributes to project administration and planning

● Contributes to project conceptualisation

● Coordinates fieldwork

● Contributes to reports and other outputs

● Works collaboratively with the project team to achieve project objectives/goals

● Develop and/or monitor and track progress of respective workstream project plans in support of the overall TICZA project

● Assist the Project Lead and Project Manager to ensure that all project deliverables are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget

● Support workstream leads and other team members with operational matters as may be required.

● Assist Project Manager with day-to-day management of project resources in order to deliver Project goals and objectives

● Report and escalate projects risks and issues as needed

● Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation

● Coordinate project resources and third parties or vendors for successful execution of deliverables

● Perform Project administration and reporting activities under the guidance of the Project Manager as follows:

- Help to set up project and project related meetings

- Handle minute-taking at meetings

- Organize venues (where applicable)

- Assist with planning

- Keep the project calendar up to date

- Offer suggestions to improve efficiencies

- Maintain compliance regulations

- Attend workshops, conferences and training as required to maintain proficiency

- Perform other related duties as assigned


2. Research, Data Collection and Management


● Conduct literature and document reviews

● Contribute to fieldwork, fieldwork reports and fieldwork reports

● Contribute to development of research instrument and frameworks

● Ensure transparency in data and datasets

● Support the development of collection tools and templates

● Support data collection



3. Analysis and Reporting

● Support the development of analysis frameworks

● Contributes to quantitative and/or qualitative data analysis aligned to designated research frameworks

● Contributes to ‘key findings’ or deeper analysis/conclusions


4. Dissemination

● Disseminate papers, monographs, articles, bulletins as per the organisation’s publication policy as well as seminars and conferences if required.



5. Divisional and Organisational Development

● Pursues professional development in line with the JET strategy

● Participates in JET events

● Participates in divisional/JET strategy development

● Engages positively and professionally with other colleagues


6. Business Development

● Represent the organisation in a professional manner

● Contribute to a positive perception of JET

● Contributes to proposals and business development presentations


JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

● Qualifications

- Honours Degree in Education, Social Science or a related field (Honours in Education is preferred)

- A Masters Degree in Education will provide a distinct advantage

● Experience

- Three to five years experience in an education environment

- Three to five years of experience with education research and reporting

- Three to five years of fieldwork experience in schools and/or higher education environments

● Skills and knowledge

- Knowledge of the initial teacher education sector in South Africa

- Highly developed written and oral communication skills in English with all levels project stakeholders

- Demonstrated competency in administrative work

- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

- Problem-solving and solution orientated

- Highly development time-management skills

- Microsoft and Google Suites (doc, excel, ppt, docs, sheets, slides)

- Presentation skills, including to external stakeholders

- Demonstrated competency in qualitative and /or quantitative research methodologies.

- Able to work in a team and independently

- Must have a South African ID or a valid work permit

- Applicant should be in possession of driver’s licence

- Johannesburg residence will be preferred

Advantage

The total cost to company (CTC/all inclusive) package is between R240 000.00 and up to R360 000 depending on qualification and experience.
