Education Researchers Respond to The COVID-19 Pandemic. The purpose of Theme 9 is to outline the impact of COVID-19 on the provisioning of education services, with a particular focus on the effect of school closures on learners and their families. In this paper we examine the effects of school closures amidst the pandemic, the effectiveness of remote learning and the possibility of remaking schooling in the South African context.
