JET at the G20 Summit
JET Education Services extends a warm welcome to all international delegates and stakeholders arriving in South Africa for the G20 Summit. This important gathering of leaders from the world's major economies will focus on tackling crucial global challenges, including sustainable economic growth and job creation.
The G20 entrepreneurship agenda specifically focuses on inclusive growth, innovation, and sustainability, with a strong emphasis on township and rural enterprises.
Read about our commitment to these global themes: In November JET Chief Financial Officer, Mororiseng Maapola shared some key takeaways from the recent South Africa StartUp20 Summit, emphasising the “importance of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) as the backbone of the economy.”
At JET, we believe that investing in education and skills development is essential for achieving sustainable economic growth and job creation, which are core priorities of the G20 agenda.”
We are proud to share some of our impactful work that aligns with the G20's focus on inclusive entrepreneurship: The Jobs Fund Project initiative has been instrumental in addressing youth unemployment by creating innovative programmes that effectively bridge the gap between education and the labour market, often targeting initiatives in under-served communities.
JET conducted a 3-year Longitudinal Tracer Study of beneficiaries across two funding windows: ➡️ Enterprise Development (ED) ➡️ Support for Work Seekers (SFW)
The study’s main purpose was to document changes in beneficiaries’ lives and provide insight into which interventions are relevant and effective for entering the job market.
JET continues its support for entrepreneurship development, notably through Mororiseng’s involvement as a Regional Adjudicator for the USAf Entrepreneurship Development in Higher Education (EDHE) programme. This work ensures that higher education institutions are equipped to foster the next generation of job creators, many of whom are focused on solving local challenges and building enterprises in township and rural areas.
We anticipate fruitful discussions and collaborations that the G20 Summit will inspire. Welcome to South Africa!
In May 2025, JET Chief Executive Officer, James Keevy was a featured speaker and moderator during the panel discussion on Navigating the Future: The promises and pitfalls of micro-credentials, at the G20 Education Working Group (EdWG) Seminar on Mutual Recognition of Qualifications in a Global Context.
