I have now been at the helm of JET, as its new CEO, since mid-September and it has been an exhilerating experience since day one. During this period I have managed to meet with most of JET’s longstanding partners and will endeavour to set up meetings with the rest over the next few months to ensure that we all have an understanding of one another’s strategic priorities and commitments for the next few years.

Since starting at JET, I have also had face-to-face meetings with JET staff to get an understanding of JET’s internal operations. I have come to realise that one of the key aspects that keep staff committed and focused is the set of values that JET stands for. Our values include being professional and knowledge-orientated, pursuing purpose beyond profit, and practising ethical governance at JET. These values provide a common basis on which we at JET demonstrate our commitment to the transformation of education and training in South Africa. We are in the process of developing a new five-year strategy to 2020, and the values will form the key focus in the planning of the five year strategy.

JET plans to move offices in the first quarter of 2015 as it has managed to purchase a building in Parktown, just across from the Wits School of Education. If all goes according to plan JET will occupy the new premises by the end of March 2015. We are excited to finally having our own space and look forward to the move. We also plan to host events at the new premises during 2015 so that everyone can get to know our new location.
