Diversifying the funding sources for TVET

JET’s Kedibone Boka participated in a virtual conference organised by UNESCO-UNEVOC in January 2017 on diversifying the sources of funding for Technical and Vocational Education and Training.  

The conference looked at trends in the financing of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and particularly the role that other actors, including the private sector, can play.

A common concern voiced by participants was the inadequacy of current TVET funding and the conference examined three approaches which could ameliorate the situation:

  • Improving the cost-efficiency of public resources:
  • Supporting the development of income generating activities by training providers:
  • Mobilizing the industry through the introduction of tax- or levy systems:
