Consortium for Research on School Quality Seminar, April 2006

The seminar was organised around three kinds of studies that are making significant contributions to our understanding of South African schooling:

• Testing Programmes, which may be national, regional or international, and are generally accompanied by surveys that collect data on schools and classrooms; 
• School Effectiveness Studies, which look for correlates of learning in the home, the school and the classroom; 
• School Improvement Studies, which are evaluations of school development interventions.
